Making Tax Digital

Making Tax Digital is changing how sole traders and landlords report their income. We set you up properly and keep you compliant.

Since April 2026, sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 must keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC. The threshold falls to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. We choose the right software, connect your bank feeds and handle the submissions for you.

Frequently asked questions

Does MTD for Income Tax apply to me?

It depends on your qualifying income from self-employment and property: over £50,000 from April 2026, over £30,000 from April 2027 and over £20,000 from April 2028. We will check your position free of charge.

Can I keep using spreadsheets?

Only with bridging software that links them to HMRC. For most people, moving to cloud software is simpler — we will help you choose.

Do I still file a tax return?

Yes. You send quarterly updates during the year, then submit your tax return through your MTD software by 31 January. We handle all of it.
